Hey now, I’m Kristin, a transplanted chef reclaiming my inner, and once again outer girlie girl.

The transplant was from Washington, DC to a small Virginia town after getting married in April ’11. I am enjoying my new rural riverfront community in King George, VA but am adjusting to it’s distance from banh mi and other urban pleasures. I squeeze in meal planning for my 2 year old and husband while commuting full time to Quantico Marine Corps Base.

Kitchens and Cooks
L’Academie de Cuisine, Equinox, Colvin Run Tavern, Susan Gage Caterers, Design Cuisine
Mom, Aunt Tamineh, Aunt Joan, Mary Liippfert’s campground spinach salad and sailboat galleys and soggy coolers

A big part of my growing up, as well as life here on the Potomac River is boating. We get out and enjoy rides under power on a 23′ Larsen, under sail on our hobie cat, and under our own power in a kayak. We also go for a glorious annual charter sail in the BVI and find ways to foray out onto the Chesapeake Bay so it’s at these times I am provisionista, coming up with practical, healthy, fun ways to provision and eat out on the water without busting out of our bathing suits.

In between Boats and Kitchens
Carnegie Mellon University professional writing, Discovery Channel Magazine publishing, National Geographic Magazine marketing and distribution (God I miss the travel), half-dozen MBA open houses and lots of deliberating over chardonnay. Ditched the grad school idea and went to culinary school when I rounded 30.
